By installing a new sensor, it is possible to control the exposure time with higher accuracy. The fastest shutter speed of the electronic shutter has been extended from 1/32000 seconds of the previous model by approximately 2.5 steps to 1/180000 seconds. In addition to being able to shoot with the aperture wide open using a large-aperture lens even in environments with strong glare, such as on a sunny beach or on a slope, it is also possible to capture a moment in a studio.

The X-H2 also supports HEIF format. HEIF is a highly efficient file format with 10-bit, 1 billion colors of color information, while the data size is 70% that of JPEG. It is possible to save the image taken and taken out with higher image quality and efficiency.

Pixel shift multishot

For the first time in the X series, it is equipped with Pixel Shift Multi-Shot, which enables shooting with four times the resolution and faithful color reproduction. By automatically shifting the image sensor with ultra-high precision using the in-body image stabilization function, 20 images can be obtained with a single shutter release. Furthermore, by processing the acquired images using the dedicated software “Pixel Shift Combiner”, it is possible to generate images of approximately 160 million pixels, making it ideal for commercial photography and digital archiving of cultural assets.

Smooth skin effect

The “Smooth Skin Effect” that automatically retouches the skin is installed for the first time in the “X series”. You can reduce the time and effort required for retouching portrait photos, etc., and create high-quality image data in a shorter time.

Meeting the needs of professional video production with enhanced video performance

Supports 8K/30P 4:2:2 10bit video recording for the first time in the “X series”. Adopting the same heat dissipation structure as the “X-H2s”, it enables 8K/30P video recording of approximately 160 minutes. In addition, the “4K HQ” mode, which generates high-quality 4K video from the abundant amount of 8K data, is also newly installed. Supports three Apple ProRes codecs: ProRes 422 HQ, ProRes 422, and 422 LT. Proxy shooting such as ProRes 422 Proxy is also possible when shooting ProRes. It reduces the burden of editing 8K videos, streamlines the entire workflow from shooting to post-production, and saves labor.

Video RAW data output via HDMI

RAW data output of up to 8K/30P 12bit is possible via HDMI. In addition, you can record as Apple ProRes RAW with ATOMOS’ “NINJA V+” and as Blackmagic RAW with Blackmagic Design’s “Video Assist 12G”.

Digital zoom function

Newly equipped with a digital zoom function that can be used when shooting movies. Digital zoom of up to 2x is achieved without compromising resolution even when a fixed focal length lens is attached. Also, when combined with the XF18-120mmF4 LM PZ WR interchangeable lens that supports electric zoom, you can seamlessly switch from optical zoom to digital zoom for smooth image expression.

Equipped with F-Log2

Equipped with “F-Log2” that expands the dynamic range to 13+ stops. Images with rich gradation can be recorded, greatly improving flexibility in post-production.

Equipped with advanced AF to accurately capture the subject

・Equipped with subject detection AF developed using deep learning technology. It is possible to detect animals, birds, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, planes, and trains with AI. Since the camera automatically tracks the target subject while it is in focus, you can enjoy shooting while concentrating on photo opportunities and composition.

・The number of phase-difference pixels has increased due to the increase in the number of pixels in the image sensor, improving the focusing accuracy of AF-S for high-frequency subjects such as animal hair and fine leaves. More accurate focusing is possible for landscape photography and portrait photography. It also uses the same AF prediction algorithm as the X-H2s, which is ideal for shooting moving subjects, and achieves stable focusing even when using AF-C.

・Focus assist magnification, which allows you to expand the area you want to focus on during AF/MF, has been expanded to a maximum of 12 times, which is twice that of the previous model5. In addition, a focus meter is newly installed as a function to perform MF during movie shooting more precisely, enabling more accurate focus adjustment.

Up to 4 cameras can be connected/operated simultaneously. By combining the separately sold accessory File Transmitter “FT-XH”, you can achieve a remote recording function via wired LAN/wireless LAN . Compatible with CFexpress™ Type B cards

Dual slots compatible with CFexpress™ Type B cards and SD cards are used. By using a CFexpress™ Type B card capable of high-speed writing, you can fully bring out the video performance of the X-H2.
